Robert Hogg : Principal Investigator

Robert Hogg : Principal Investigator

Dr. Hogg is a Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and Director of the HIV/AIDS Drug Treatment Program at the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.  He will contribute expertise related to population health, patterns of mortality, life expectancy, and survival and will be responsible for leading this emerging team.

 

 

Curtis Cooper: Co-Principal Investigator

Curtis Cooper: Co-Principal Investigator

Curtis Cooper, MD is an Associate Professor with the University of Ottawa, Infectious Diseases Consultant with the Ottawa Hospital Division of Infectious Diseases, and Associate Clinical Researcher with the Ottawa Health Research Institute. He will provide expertise on HIV, viral hepatitis, and HIV/HCV co-infection. 

Marina Klein : Co-Principal Investigator

Marina Klein : Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Klein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunodeficiency Services, McGill University Health Centre, Montreal. She was a recipient of a CIHR New Investigator award (2001-2006) and is currently supported by a Chercheur-boursier clinician J2 award from the FRSQ.  She will provide expertise on clinical and epidemiologic aspects of HIV and hepatitis C co-infection, pharmacoepidemiology of antiretrovirals, and HIV infection in women. Her group has developed expertise in time dependent analyses and causal modelling techniques such as history-adjusted marginal structural models and generalised propensity scores.

 

Mona Loutfy : Co-Principal Investigator

Mona Loutfy : Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Loutfy is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and an Infectious Diseases Specialist and Clinician Scientist at Women’s College Hospital.  She also has a private HIV practice in downtown Toronto at the Maple Leaf Medical Clinic which cares for over 2,500 HIV-positive patients. Dr. Loutfy was awarded a CIHR New Investigator Award in April 2007.  She will provide expertise in women and HIV and pregnancy planning and HIV.

Nima Machouf : Co-Principal Investigator

Nima Machouf : Co-Principal Investigator

 

Dr. Machouf is an epidemiologist at Clinique médicale l'Actuel at Montréal and lecturer at the faculty of Medicine at University of Montréal. She will provide expertise on clinical aspect of treating HIV infected patients, antiretroviral therapy and resistance.

 

Julio Montaner : Co-Principal Investigator

Julio Montaner : Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Montaner is a Professor in the Department Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at University of British Columbia and Director of the British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. He is currently the president elect of the International AIDS Society.  For this project he will provide expertise in HIV therapeutics and clinical management.

Janet Raboud : Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Raboud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Toronto and an Affiliate Scientist in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Toronto Hospital University Health Network.  Her contribution to the team grant will be in the areas of study design, planning of statistical analyses and interpretation of findings.

Sean Rourke : Co-Principal Investigator

Sean Rourke : Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Rourke is a Research Scientist at the Centre for Research on Inner City Health, St. Michael’s Hospital and Scientific and the Executive Director of the Ontario HIV Treatment Network.  Dr. Rourke will help to coordinate all research and training activities related to this project in Ontario and will provide expertise in Medical Neuropsychology, HIV/AIDS, alcoholism, mental health services, psychosocial functioning, and health-related quality of life.

 

 

Marek Smieja: Co-Principal Investigator

Marek Smieja: Co-Principal Investigator

Marek Smieja, MD is an Infectious Diseases and HIV physician, medical microbiologist, and clinical epidemiologist at McMaster University.  He is a CIHR New Investigator and leads the Canadian HIV Vascular Study, a multi-centre cohort study assessing the relationships between HIV medications, metabolic abnormalities, and vascular disease among HIV-positive subjects.  He will provide expertise to the project in study design, cardiovascular adverse events and antiretroviral therapy.

Chris Tsoukas : Co-Principal Investigator

Chris Tsoukas : Co-Principal Investigator

Dr. Tsoukas is a Professor in Department of Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University.  He has received the Order of Canada (1999) and Louis Pasteur Award for Excellence in Clinical Medicine In the Fight against AIDS (1996).  He will provide expertise on identifying specific immune response phenotypes, with the ultimate aim being in applying this approach to clinical management, and in the field of clinical information where he has have developed sophisticated approaches that utilize artificial intelligence and integrate computational tools in clinical practice.
